Overview

A tiny macOS menu-bar app that mutes your Mac the instant it could embarrass you — on sleep, lid close, or when your AirPods die and audio is about to blast from the speakers.

Everyone knows the moment: AirPods run out mid-podcast and the whole café hears it, or a sleeping Mac wakes in a meeting to a blaring video. AutoMute watches for sleep, lid close, screen lock and Bluetooth audio disconnects and cuts the sound first — optionally with a smooth fade, or by pausing Apple Music and Spotify instead of muting. It un-mutes on wake only if it was the one that muted you, and quiet hours keep the Mac silent on a nightly schedule.
